Nature does not follow borders. Across the Caribbean, islands may be separated by water, but they are deeply connected by shared ecosystems, migratory routes, and the similar threats they face. Coral reefs, seagrass meadows, mangroves, ocean currents, and wildlife all move and grow beyond political or geographic lines.

For species that migrate over vast distances such as whales, sea turtles, sharks, and seabirds, conservation requires more than island-wide action. It demands a regional approach. Many of the challenges our islands face, including climate change, coastal development, overfishing, and habitat loss, are regional threats to nature as well.

That is why WWF-NL focuses on cross island collaboration in the Caribbean. By combining strengths, sharing expertise, and supporting partners across multiple islands, we aim to create impact at a greater scale. Through regional projects, joint research, shared knowledge, and coordinated conservation efforts, we work to protect the ecosystems and species that connect all our islands.
